Yes. That's exactly how I did it. Even without the table top fitted those brackets only go down as far as is shown in that photo.

I bought some of these stainless steal table brackets to use for a removable table, but I can't get them to work.

The brackets are in two parts, a wall bracket and an 'L' shaped table bracket...
