I have used dried coffee grounds, glued in with CA. Gives a nice brown, woody color. Also have used brass powder and key machine filings from hehardware store. Nice bowl, worth saving.

A couple of new attempts.
First, bocote and yellowheart. SWMBO thought that gold hardware would look better. Opinions?
Second one is claro walnut and yellowheart. Lots of curl in the walnut.

I sometimes swivel out the headstock on my Jet 1442 to do the inside of a bowl. If you swivel it back and forget to check the alignment with the tailstock, the next pen you turn will have a lovely...
