Thank you John for the excellent info on the timbers. I will continue to search locally (NSW - Australia) for some Teak but if unsuccessful then Tasmanian Oak will have to do. The boat will be sailed...

The model is 7:1, strange scale I hear you saying, but the prototype is 7 metres long and as I needed to get the model in the back of my car the max length will be 1 metre, hence 7:1.... -
