I've just had a couple of pin oak logs slabbed, 55mm thick.
The client isn't keen on waiting 2 years + before the timber can be used, so I'm having it dried in a commercial solar kiln... -

Two boards had to be crippled to sit flat..

I've gathered a little bit of info on the idea of rubbing oil into timber with a fine grade sandpaper and a random orbital sander.
