These are the more common Australian timbers used to build necks...

Thanks for the kind words Riggsy. The purfling/binding was a pain in the ass, i tried a new method and i was lucky to pull it of - but i will never do it that way again.

It's much of a muchness. If you cut the neck to size, and then glue the fretboard on you can use the neck as a guide to cut the fretboard to scale by using a flush trim bit.
