Either titebond original or hot hide glue will work fine. If you have no sacrificial thickness to remove after jointing, then I would coat the front surface with shellac to help cleanup

Think of it as a lifetime investment
get ones two or 3 thou bigger than your 9 guage strings and you will be able to use them for the larger guages too. -

I just got some Ringed Gidgee boards from Loggerheads.
Seems very good quality. Dry, straight, and already sanded to 7mm thick and it is apparently much more stable than ebony.
