as for the sydney woodcarving group they do exist
i am a member and still try to get some carving...

i just picked up my new machine for the shed (backroom)
yamaha XVS650 custom
it cuts through traffic well :D

Ideal for filing unusually shaped or hard to reach areas

have you tried diamond files or jewellers files
even a good set of rifflers
also i find that if you use cloth backed belt sander belts you can fold small pieces of this into different shapes...

after a little more peeling of paint
i found that theres a painting of flowers and trees
all these have been painted over what looks like gold leaf
doesnt seem to be a...

dropping my daughter home the other night i came accross this in a council cleanup
king size head and foot
2 x rails
the whole thing has been painted green (yuk)
someone had tried to sand through...

the wife and i bought a janik pyrotool about 7 years ago
we both use it heaps
i like to put borders around my carvings with it (rope pattern)
some pyrotoolings we do we spray clear
others...

as for glueing
dont use straight pva as you need to sand alot afterwards
try spray adhesive from arts and craft suppliers

the way you see it
not how others see it

a bloke at work today had a ryobi side mount saw that looked pretty nifty
it has a detachable table that can cut at angles
it was like an angle grinder with a gentlemans saw attached to one...
