Fully realise this is a case of 'after the horse has bolted' but have been using 'Zipbolts' for some time now in that type of application...so for anyone contemplating a similar problem...

Have a look here...BenchCrafted.com - Vises came across this the other day...not necessarily the bench but the vice, and make sure you view the video. All makes a lot of sense. Also...
