Here's an interesting scenerio... I know a guy that lives in an appartment block and the meter box that contains ALL meters for the 15 units is on the outside his bedroom wall and due to have 15...

Just lay the parts out on a scanner, scan and Import the image into CAD as the background and trace. Shouldnt take long at all. :2tsup:

With the G540 you've the ability to run 4 steppers. I'd use 2 ballscrews X axis with a width of 1000mm. This worked good for me. I'm in Geelong if you want to have a look at my machine.

Looks the goods. I like the look of the belt drive. I've seen one of Peter Homann's belt drive machines move so fast it shook the table it was resting on and visually it was hard to keep track off...

Does anyone know of any type of gear, rack, pinion CAD drawing programs. (shareware) I'd like to draw up a 4th / 5th axis rotary head and thinking I might mill and mould the gears and make it in...

Good idea, but then again I have trouble enough trying to figure out how to use four. :doh:

I've a few 3 inch 1/8 BN 2FL and 4FL bits. Also some 3 inch 1/4 2FL bits. They come in handy for doing this type of milling.

Added a little more to my machine. I was asked to mill a mould for part of a costume. But this part had angled sides and required the table to be rotated about 33 degrees. So here's what I come up...

I've got these 3D glasses from when I saw Avatar.... so I put them on, saved your images to my computer then rotated the images sideway.... All I could see was someone in your kitchen cooking...

Nice. Just hope you dont need to take it off again. I had to take mine off a few times to get the bracket made and mounted to the ballscrew nut.

Hi Noel,

You might want to switch the 2nd Y axis to B or C if you're going to get that 4th axis going next. The A axis is the norm for the rotational axis. :2tsup:

Does anyone know where I can buy a long 1/4 BN bit with a long cutting surface? When rough cutting foam the depth I can plunge is limited to the length of the cutting flute of the tool. My current...
