Depends on the size of your build as to whether the cost prohibits using Ballscrews.

For me you cannot beat ballscrews and square lineal rails.

Well done on your carvings, the Zebra's are excellent.
Have you machined them on fine grained plywood, so the paint does not go deep into the grain which would make it difficult to sand...

Have now finished my clamping board; leveled, "T" nuts and grid.
Also added a skirt to contain the swarth.
Need to add a dust extraction shoe for dusty jobs eg MDF.

My approach to the tweaking of out of square caused by attaching rails and components to un machined surfaces was to shim.
Fortunately I only had to shim the T Slot rails that are bolted...

There are 2 suction holes in each pod....the top is 25mm MDF.
I have also sealed it (lacquered) to assist in maximum suction.
