Yep, I'd go with too much heat due to friction in polishing. You really only need a light touch when applying the Brasso + Speedglaze. Only a tiny bit of heat build up. Also, too much heat build up...

Yes, anything with Birdseye's is REALLY hard to get. All the Huon I have in stock has several eyes on the outer area of the timber, worse luck, so they will be turned out. :C
