The software I use is program called 'Maya', and each model can take around 2-3 weeks to build depends if you want to animate it :)

It's cheaper than wood :D

Well this dosen't have much to do with wood carving as such , But computer modelling is very similar to wood carving in as you are trying to make something out of nothing :D So anyway for you...

Oh I forgot if your carving with burrs make sure you have a really good dustmask and eye protection because these machines can spin up to 60,000 rpm and last thing you would like to happen to you is...

I don't know if i would got to that expense especially if it's just a one off project, you could try the dremel packs they come with loads of attachments and they are a reasonably reliable and at $99...

It maybe just me! but i always get the impression from timber supplyers and others in the timber industry that they think wood carving is just a waste of timber, Even most wood supplyers seem to give...

Kutzall extreme burrs would probably make short work off irongum as long as it's dry.:) Fit those burrs to a metabo die grinder and watch the wood dust fly :eek:

Pat's right most of it will be done with Arbortech's and die grinders press drill with fosner bits, the only thing I will hand carve is the eyes and talons the more detailed stuff.
