I'm guessing you'd use a false fence attached to...
I'm guessing you'd use a false fence attached to the saw fence (which you'd want on either side not just the saw blade side). One that is easy to mount and dismount.

Odd, if its a regular type selector switch it'll be easily (finicky but easy) to replace. Strange the repair bloke wouldn't just use a stock Jaycar/Altronics/Dick Smith etc part. Unless it's relays...
