I have a pair of mills made by T&G that use those mechanisms.

Basically imagine a traditionally shaped mill. Now about 20% up from the base there is a join/seam (2nd cove from the bottom)...

The Nova mini spigot jaws get around the having only one screw problem but don't seem to have the internal dovetail you were after.
I was eyeing a set of them to use for smaller pieces like finials...
