Sounds like your tools may not be sharp? Look up "Scary Sharp" method of sharpening...is a good cheap way to learn and will get your tools scary sharp lol....

There are lots of great carving books available....Woodcarving Illustrated (fox publishing) has a number of relief carving tutorial books. Do a search on google and maybe take a look at the relief...

They used to do that in school, actually my wife did more of it than I did, but they used a block of wood with a piece of linoleum on it.....does the same printing job, but easier to work.

why not just make wooden covers for the blades...personalize them, I have all mine chip carved.... just an idea:2tsup: or in the case of gouges, I use the clear tubing....nothing gets damaged either...

If you do any woodcarving along with the scrollsaw.....take a look at Lynn Diehl's book on the nativity....great design.

95% of my carving is with a knife......and I always wear a carving glove....its a good habit to start.............don't mind the cuts, but the blood messes up a good carving!:wink:

Good job! If you blended the line between the two colors and made a blended transition it would really set it off! if you used acrylic paint, with a bit of water you can work back and forth in wet...
