I have 8(?) 2 mtr x 900mm slabs of the stuff, and I am reticent to use them because of the movement. Might have to cut them up for chopping boards. :?

Red Gum and movement are synonymous.

I have SheOak in my stash, and it doesn’t look anything like the photos. Looks more like Silky Oak to me.

If it looks too good to be true - it’s a scam.

Depending on the size and layout of the granny flat, insulation is the best bang for buck you can do. Putting it in the walls may be problematic, but if you can it would be well worth it.

I would lean towards Maple as well. Certainly not Silky Oak.

I still get glue creep, even with Bessey clamps, but most of the time it’s manageable.

I’m on the Mornington Peninsula and do not have any problem with glue ups.

I use old Merbau and Titebond 3.

I also put as much pressure on the joints using Bessey clamps as I can but I do not...

The bark on the tree looks just like an Hakea (Pincushion) that I have. The leaves are different, but it may be part of the same family.
