Instruments fitted


I say fitted but mounted would be a better description. I also had to remove the monitor shelf for easier access to fit the instruments....

Extra hardwoods pads added to mount the wheels on as the MDF does not have enough strength to take the screws. So the wheels are fitted :)...

Power Points Added


All the electrical power sockets are fitted, and I've just applied the third coat of Danish oil. Some of the exterior panels are soaking it up so much they might need another...

The final fifth coat of Danish Oil was applied left over night and here after I cut it back with wire wool I've applied a clear wax paste and buffed it up....

First coat of Danish oil goes on another three or four coats to go each coat will be cut back with 0000 wire wool, finally it will get a coat of Black Bison paste wax....

Well all the woodworking is finished, today I fitted the hinges.

I need to make two dorade boxes out of teak and as I'm not impressed with any thing I've seen on the net like this traditional one pictured here I've decided I'll go with my own design....

I have added felt to match the door holding the chisel racks, and at the same time added the small saw rack for my dovetail saws. I've found the felt eliminates any rust attacking my tools.

Divider back in place, I decided to add a chamfer to the top edges before applied some danish oil for a finish....

Addendum to the chess table drawer

So I decided on making a divider for all the chess pieces.
Here in this pic I've knocked up a jig to use a 6mm cutter to slot all the wood, the wood is all 6mm...

Fitting the top

With a long phillips screwdriver going right through the drawer cabinet I'm marking the top where to drill pilot holes....

The top edge is 1/2" thick and I need to add a molding to match what is fitted the lower edge of the drawer unit.
But I want to leave a clear distinct line of the upper edge....

Dry...

The wood that will become the squares of the top. All pieces have been thicknessed to 1/2" but will eventually end up nearer 3/8" or less....

The drawer is now what you might describe as air tight :)

I'm at a point now to add some string inlay to the sides and I'm undecided if not to add lipping in contrasting wood around the drawer fronts.

Adding the lipping is going to hide the half blind...
