Hi Mark, what sort of weight, size are you looking at, I know some bus companies do bus freight, but as to the weights/size, I can't help you on that. Pretty sure that anything going north, comes through Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth. Where it is unloaded at different depots, then loaded again. Unfortunately every time someone touches it, they want $$.

When dealing with freight companies, cheap and freight do not belong in the one sentence..

Bus freight stops at around 20kg I think.
I have used e-go (www.e-go.com.au) to ship things around as have others. I haven't had a problem with them although as BT will tell you, they can take their time getting things there.

I've used E-go once and was quite happy.
I've also heard bad things about them, though I don't think a freight or courier company exists that doesn't have a lot of unhappy customers.

I am looking at a Seig SX3L mill from Ausee Tools in Dandenong, VIC, sent either to Tennant or Alice.
The quote I got from Ausee was
    $725.00

Was that the mill and freight or freight only. If that was freight only, when you come down, why not get them to deliver to your MIL address, buy a trailer to take it home then sell the trailer and get your money back.

+1 for e-go. Even on the small stuff they are cheaper than auspost door to door and if you can deliver to their local depot it is even better.

If I was a nail biter, I'd have none. E-Go's tracking was close to a non event. I couldn't believe it when I discovered that all evidence of tracking disappeared when the package arrived in Perth. I thought so bloody close and it's been lost. Anyway it wasn't lost and I collected Michael's package on Friday.

And what a package it was!!!

You could try some one like Hunter Express, they have depots in Melb & Alice. $750 doesn't surprise me, it's a long way, and at least a pallet space. And you will be paying mining rates. Any one the doesn't run East of Adelaide will be using a sub contractor, - Melb - Adel, so two cuts for profit / margin.

Mitchell's used to be good for your part of the country, but they are part of Toll now. Still worth getting a qoute, but I dont expect them to be cheaper.

    Regards Phil.

I got this email this morning from Ausee,
I don't think any one could do better than this?
Though I am waiting for a couple replies from the links you gave me.
But what I don't understand is Tennant is 500 km north of Alice on the main highway, and they wanted $450 for this.

    Hi Mark,

Hope you had a great weekend. As quoted, the freight cost to Alice Springs is $275, which is a lot better than the previous quote. If you make your decision by this week, we will also through in the below accessories for FREE!!!

    1. M10 58pcs Clamping Kit 050-020-10058
    2. Tilting Radial Milling Vice 100mm 050-012-01100
    ( above item valued over $330.00 )

It is a deal too good to be missed )

Please let us know if you require further information.
