Default CNC Router services in Perth

    Hi all,

I live SOR and am interested in making some stacked ply bookshelf speaker boxes. I dont have a CNC router but was wondering if there is anyone around who may be interested in doing some routing for me. Once I have a design finalised I could supply in a range of CAD formats and can supply material. I would also be compensating anyone for their time and efforts etc. Design could be tweeked to suit a persons CNC router but essentially we are talking somewhere between 12-20mm ply or MDF with straight cuts. Let me know if there is any interest. I am probably a month or so away from cutting.

    Cheers

    Thor

If it is only straight cuts then why not use a table saw?

    Hi Bob,

Straight cuts, yes with a table saw but I am interested in a curved shape which is why i am interested in the stacked plywood approach.

    Cheers

Stacked plywood, 20mm thick each, so two of them would be about 40mm thick?

A picture (or sketch) is worth 999 words; possibly even as many as 1000.

That look like an extremely wasteful method of making a box. Given an overall height of about 300mm that would require 15 layers of plywood 20mm thick.

The speakers in the second picture look as though they may have been made from the waste from the first picture. If not, then this may be something that you might want to explore.

Whatever, the parts could be easily and accurately cut on a cnc machine. Anyone in that area could easily make these if you supply the DXFs or whatever and I am certain that somebody there will soon take you up on the offer.

    Hi Thor,
If you can't get anyone to do them, have you thought of making a pattern and using a router on a table, with a copy bit? I found this to be quite acceptable, finish wise.
