Default Refitting Poly V-Belt on JET JWSS-10LFR

    Hi,

The poly v-belt on my Jet JWSS-10LFR slipped off while running (the drive belt from the motor) not the height adjustment one. I turned the machine off immediately and found it easy to re-fit belt (as per manual) however it slipped off again when I started it up. It seems the belt simply holds in place by the tension from the spring loaded motor plate. I note also that the belt and both pulleys (arbor and motor) are grooved which I assume assists in keeping the belt in place. Is there something I am missing here? Perhaps I didn't have it sitting perfectly aligned? Is there anything else that keeps the belt in place. First time I have has an issue with the saw in 7 years after purchasing second hand so can't complain. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks, John

    Hi John,
That sounds like an alignment issue. I guess the left wing would have to be removed to access the top pulley. Also check that the spring where the motor hinges is not broken. Getting a replacement belt may be an issue. Carbatec may have them. There are probably generic ones available.
    Cheers,
    Ross

Thanks Ross - I have re-attached and made sure it was aligned properly - runs smoothly when turned on and off. I'll see how it goes under load when cutting. Appreciate your feedback. Cheers, John
