Nice pictorial travelogue Mik, really enjoying reading about your adventures. Shame you couldn't make it to the Bay Area and our NorCal redwood coast. Good wooden boat stuff happens in these parts, and the scenery is really something to behold...not to mention plenty of veg eateries!

Actually Rick, I really do prefer ethnic non veg eateries. A lot (but by no means all) vegetarian places are so focussed on an idea of "vegetarian" that they forget about the ideas of flavour and enjoyment.
I often much rather have a vego dish at an Indian, Italian, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Chinese, South American or Mexican Restaurant rather than go to a specialised vego one.

Ok ... this one is a trip up a slot canyon.
However something strange is happening to the visits to my site ... it is taking a bit of a dive and I know Google penalises duplicate content. So I will do a brief version here and have the full version on my blog. Sorry about this but I will see what happens over the next few days to the site visits.
ANYWAY.... all this material will be on Michael Storer Boat Design - Wooden Boat Plans - Australia USA UK South Africa

The first post above really introduces the boats and people. The second is more of a story. The flickr pics have detailed comments too.

MIK, do you by any chance know which Gartside design it was?
Flashboat has a transom, it looks double-ended?
Bob has flare and is strip plank, this one looks epoxy glued clinker with much less flare than Bob?
Thanks

Howdy Brian.
Well spotted. It is a BOB converted to lapstrake by the builder.
I think it is a good choice - reduces all those levels of labour.

Was third good enough?
Shawn Payment won in an OZ, He had good speed in two races but got buried in the second.
The PDR folks seemed to enjoy the three short race format.
An OZ now holds the Canadian and the Intergalactic champs.
More later. Apologies to those waiting for replies .. car has broken down in Georgia and we are waiting for a repair. Looks like we will be back at Chuck's sometime tomorrow.

Yes... third. I initially thought that you held back so you could return next year and cruelly crush all those false hopes. Now I see, though, it was strictly in the interest of public relations. You wanted others to experience the joy of winning a big race in a PDR (esp. an OZ PDR). Promoting the class by spreading the joy. Very sporting of you!
Cause I know - if you'd wanted to - you could have run away from the field. Even in the ancient boat they fitted you out with. A little of your patented sailing magic/OZ cobber jujitsu, and you'd have been gone. You Aussies are so darned crafty
BTW - I keep finding bits you left behind. If I mail them to Chuck - will you get them?
Cheers & Beers,
