Not a bad effort for a first go Ben. Do you want some feed back, or are you happy with how your are going?

Hi Ben,
Feedback no problem but I've got a show this weekend and I'm going to be tied up with that. I'll do what I can anyway but may not get to it till after the weekend. In the mean time, have a look at your mouth mound. It is higher than the cheeks on either side where they meet. The mouth mound should taper down into that crevice more so that the mouth is carved over a ROUNDED surface not an elevated flat surface.
As for the eyes, I suggest you go to that part of the WIP that outlines how to do them and practice that on some scrap wood. Just carve eye after eye in a line down the wood. Once you feel a bit more confident with the process then try it on a golf ball again.
Start with a 11/10 gouge and create the 'socket', then draw the eye outline and proceed from there just the way its described. Let me know how you go. If need be I'll try to get some more detailed photos posted but for now see how you manage with what's already here.
Don't forget to post your results good or bad... even the bad stuff gives clues as to what you are doing that needs changing.
