Default 2nd one Spalted ?? & QLD Beach

This is an unkown timber (almost reminds me of an oak bowl I id just after joining the forum) also from Hughie real nice to turn some spectacular colour and splating I could not wait to see what it was going to turn out like. Photo's here don't do it justice will have to try take better ones. These were taken during dry fit up and prior last sand and polish.

Finial and base out of QLD beach from Noel (outbacker) up in QLD ty.

same finish as above round box.

Its all glued up and drying now.

    Hi Wheelin,

I like the shape of them, and particularly like the bark inclusions on the first one. Not sure about the finials - look a little chunky to me, be then again my one effort at them was truly abysmal so I can't talk!

    Nice work though!

    Cheers,

Love them Ray. excellent work. I think my preference leans towards the first one. Like the inclusion of the bark. I think finials are a personal taste thing. I would like to see what the first bowl would look like with a chunky sort of knob, maybe with a small piece of bark on it too. I reckon it would have looked good on that particular design. Really nice work Ray. Wish I could turn something as good.

Nice one Ray, did not recognize the timber at first glance.

    Thanks all for the comments

I agree with the finial being a bit thick but they are usable vessels not just ornaments.

Looks really good Wheelin. Amazing piece of wood, looks like some speccy piece of marble from an important government building!
