    G'day Teetree,

Welcome abord! Am fairly new to the place myself. Like you, I stumbled across it by accident too. I hope you'll like it.

I've never tried chainsaw carving. What's involved? Obviously you don't get those finished surfaces with a chainsaw, so what other tools/techniques/processes do you use? Would love you to do a WIP (work in progress or step by step) sometime.

Like your work. Hope we see more of it.

hi whitling , i rough out with the chainsaw and then finish with traditional tools , rasps chisel and then a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease.I was lucky enough to score some large pieces of camphor laurel the other day so i will be starting a new project soon, i will post progress pics.

Chainsaw carving definately saves time , but i enjoy chisel and mallet work better.

    cheers

Wow Tea Tree, lovely work. I assume they are local stumps you have used.

Hi Sebastion yes they are all locally found stumps. It seems round here a lot of camphor laurel gets cut down and it is a really good timber to carve.
