Default Which rotary table for your X2 Mill

I have been trying to select an appropriate sized rotary table for my X2 mill, as well as deciding which rotary table brand to buy.

On Friday I inspected the Vertex brand rotary table and was quite impressed with the quality. It was fairly clear that the 6" would be too big for the X2.

However the 4" seems to lack proper hold down or mounting facilities, just a couple of very shallow grooves that none of my standard mill clamps would work on.

    So, my question is twofold:

1 Which rotary table, manufacturer and size, do you use on your X2 mill

2 How do you mount it or hold it down on the X2 table?

    G'day Fred.

When I first bought my mill, I was told that anything over 4 inch would be too large for this size mill. From memory, when I looked at a rotary table it was a matter of making some clamps to fit but it's been a while however I was at Carbatec the other day and they had a 4 inch one for around the $200 mark but I'm not sure about the clamping.

    Hi Fred,
I had a lot of fun making my 4"+ rotary table. I haven't worked out how to put a link in these posts but if you search Rotary Table, you should find my brag about August last year.
    Cheers

Thanks Graeme, but at this stage my machining skills wouldn't be up to the task nor do I have access to a worm drive etc.

I went to look at the Vertex table (4") and was surprised to see the limited provision for hold down or mounting. When I queried this I was told I would have to "fudge" it!

Given that I was just about to spend $600 on a rotary table with dividing plates and tailstock, I politely told the salesman that I would pass.

Won't mention any company names, but it is by no means the first time I had that type of experience at that particular company.

I wonder why I usually finish up buying from the US?
