A mate and I did some trolling and fishing with HS on Monday.
Trolling wasn't successful , but fishing was !.
We got heaps of Bream and Pinkies.
We had to motor , there was no wind .HS isn't a fishing boat , but still we did well enough.
Two metre seas , but HS did well .
    Regards Rob J.

The spot my old mate took me too is south of the Minerva reef , his grandfather had shown it to him.
When we got there , there was a line of boats right on the edge of the reef , and another boat maybe 100 yds from where we wanted to go , south of the reef .
We dropped anchor , threw the first line in , and had a bream on board within 2 minutes.
And so it went , lots of fish on board.
We had a problem with sidesteppers taking the bait , but we did just fine.
The other poor buggers didn't catch a fish in their big bit of fancy plastic , they just pretended not to see the 2 old buggers in the wood sailboat hauling them in.
Oh , and my mate bought just a handline , thats all we used , 2 handlines , and another handline to troll with.
    No room for anything else.
    Regards Rob J.

In answer to one of your earlier questions Rob.
Jarvis Walker have/had a range of short boat rods called "stubbies", worth asking your local tackle shop about.
They are very short rods, just what you might be looking for.

    Finally , I've got out again !
And I took out a women I met on the beach , for some trolling.
No sailing , my arthritic body was hurting too much , but we had a good time motoring around , in a significant swell .
    And we didn't catch a thing !.
But it was good being back out on the water again.
    HS did well.

I got to take out HS again today , a beautiful day for sailing.
The big A is giving me hell , I couldn't pick up anyone on the beach , so I went out "on me pat" motoring , trolling.
And once again , I didn't catch anything.
Hopefully I'll be able to get back to my successful lure and paravane soon , and start catching them again.
But it was a good day , a nice even 3 metre swell to play in.

I took my next door neighbour out fishing today in HS , on a beautiful day for fishing .
And my mojo is working again !.
I changed my lure again , set it up the way it used to be , and we were away !.
Catching Pike and Couta , but really big mothers !.
When we filled the esky , we came home again.
    A great days fishing though.

I took out my 2 nephews fishing (trolling) today , 10 and 12 yo kids.
It started out cold , but we soon warmed up hauling in fish !.
The 2 boys had never caught fish before , I was hauling in my handline , and they wanted me to deal with their fish too !.
I just told them to "reel the bloody thing in " , and they struggled !.
But again we filled the esky , with squid , pinkies , rock cod , big pike and couta !.
They reckon this fishing caper is all right now !.

    Good one Rob.

I just love to see the children, when they catch their first fish.

Those two are just old enough to help you sand your boat. Ha Ha.

    No chance Ian.
I had to clean the lot .
Except I gave the squid and some of the couta to a mate , he cleaned his own.
We had the Pinkie ourselves , it was very nice !.
I reckon I'll get out again this week.
Jeez , I can remember as a kid , much younger than these two, riding out the bush with my ferrets and dog , catching rabbits , wringing their necks , and gutting them , before riding home and selling them to the bloke in the Chilling works.
I saw an ad a couple of days ago about kids playing , and all that was working was 2 thumbs !.
They don't even know how to use a knife and fork properly !.
    I'll shut up now.

Some "Person" has complained to management about me putting stories of me catching fish off HS on this thread.
I have asked management to delete this thread entirely.
If they don't do that I won't be posting on it ever again anyway .
I want the thread DELETED please !.
