Red Cedar Slabs - Warning Drool material
Thought you might be interested in a knarly red cedar log I cut up today that produced 8 nice slabs and a heep of smaller pieces. The widest were 1410mm and 2.7m long.
Sorry about the poor quality pics and I wasn't able to wet them for the photo as I didn't think the customer would approve.
Yes that's my boot on one of the slabs to give you an idea of the scale. (Size 10)
Make nice tables
cheers
Steve

Hey Stopper,
some turps in a spray bottle would've shown that grain up nicely.
And it dries fast, kills critturs/fungus and doesn't hurt the timber.
Keep some on the bench.
Nice pieces, they dont look too thick though.
cheers,
rich

Wetting fresh milled timber doesn't normally bring out additional colour, a few red cedar trees up here that have grown very quickly are that pale pink colour.
The slabs appear to be way to thin to be usable as whole slabs.

Cedar
Guess it's what the client wanted.
I once milled a slab of cedar for a mate who makes beautiful surfboards
into 4mm x 600 "veneers".
The board looked pretty good.

They are actually 50mm thick. Must be my phone camera makes them look thinner. The customer is having an auction next weekend. They will be in it. Attached is a photo of some of the other timbers I have cut for his sale.
cheers
Steve
