    Default Start of something beautiful

The couple over the road have decided to get married after living together for 20 years, to celebrate the union I am making a burl bowl to give them on the happy day. Got the outside done today will turn it and mount it on the chuck and do the inside another day.

I like to leave some bark on these bowls so the tree can show through, only problem with the work spinning at about 1800 RPM I have to stop and count the fingers every now and then (thank god foe a variable speed drive) when it's finished it will look like a medieval porridge bowl.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I´m not so sure about the universe.

    Hey Phil,

Can't wait to see the finished Item, I like the rough natural edge types of things, even better when the bark stays on.

    Hi Mick
I work selling motors and drives so the parts were easy and cheap to come by. A bit of advice don't listen to the advice on this topic on the Forum you will most likely get your self in trouble. Go and talk to a motor/drive specialist. You should be able to convert for around $800.00

That's exactly what it'll look like. I wanna see the finished piece, too.
