    Default Notes from a carver

    Hi all now as a spend more time on the lathe
    I see why you enjoy it

    I will never stop carving but its nice to try your hand at somethink new
    and hey if I can carve it well thats good to

    now I know I still have a lot to work on with my turning
    but was thinking I will list off the good and bad in turning

    GOOD,
    you ge tsomethink finished in a short time

    Bad
    you soon start looking at wood as how can I turn this
    not how can I carve this

    Good
    all the bits of wood that are to little to carve I can turn

    Bad
    getting that 1st face full off chips

    Good
    the turners I have talked to are all nice people

    Bad
    working on the lathe to hear that bang crash as your work flys off the lath
    and you jump 10 ft in the air

    so heres two from today

    the bolw is going to have the outside carved

    ps pics not that good had to use the web cam

    You all carver turners have an unfair advantage over us plain ole turners. While we can only make it round, you can do that and then create all sorts of interesting embellishments. Some really great Aussie and Kiwi carvers out there.
