Default a first venture/ advice to lighten?

hello all, this is my first venture into carving (the first of many i hope). i choose to make a puzzle ring out of a piece of spotted gum, it was quite a challenge to get right but to make the ring a little more aesthetic i was hoping to get a few suggestions on how to lighten/bleach one of the bands without risking the integrity of the timber as it if very fragile and thin. i would appreciate any advice

Hi Tom, welcome. The easy alternative to lightening one would be to darken the other with a woodstain, wouldn't it?

Try soaking one ring in peroxide, use the strongest grade of peroxide you can get your hands on. Try a hairdresser.

Careful trying hairdressers... My suspicion is that greying the wood with bleach would convey the image of new wood/old wood instead of light/dark, hence my tongue in cheek suggestion, but who knows...
