Spindle motor mount drawings
As soon as I can, I am going to start making myself an aluminium (My spell checker just told me that this should be aluminum) (Bloody yanks) and steel table. This should be a lot more accurate than the MDF one that I have now.
I will need to make a few things for this to happen. One of the first of these will be to try to make some aluminium motor mounts for the spindle I will soon be purchasing. I am not yet sure of the body size that I will get. It will depend mainly on price versus power, so it will have either a 65mm dia body or an 80mm dia body and will be the subject of a later question seeking advice from the forum.
Would anybody be willing to send me either (preferably both) of these mounts as DXF files?
Thanks

Bob
I am a bit indisposed for the next few weeks, and can't get out to the shed. Therefore, I have a bit of time on my hands while recuperating.
Have a look at my last couple of posts under https://www.woodworkforums.com/f170/n...2010-a-113767/ and see if my spindle clamps are near to what you want.
If so, let me know and I will draw up a couple of dxf's for you.
Cheers

Hi Noel
I have just had a look at your build and I am hoping to make one at least half as good as that.
I also looked at your gearbox drawing and I must admit that I was also hoping for a little more precision than you seem to be displaying here.
But yes, that looks exactly what I need/want Noel but I did not want to cause you any work, I just thought that somebody could still have the DFXs or G-Codes to make the clamps already on their computers. I will also later want to make the sides of the gantry when I find some aluminium at the "right price".
Did you do a drawing for these or just make them freehand on the bandsaw?

Yes - my "detailed drawings"probably leave a bit ti be desired, but I build most things in my head to start with, then draw up only what I need to "visualise'.
I do have a good CAd/CAM package, and am under orders to sit and remain quiet for the next few weeks, so I will draw you up a couple of simple dxf's and you can then decide what changes you want, etc.
Probably be a day or two.
Cheers

Thanks a lot Noel.
Glad to hear that I am being instrumental in assisting your recovery from whatever it is.
I understand completely about the sketches. When I am making something I don't usually even do the most rudimentary of sketches, I tend to build it all in my head and then just start making the thing no matter what it is. This method does of course have one or two drawbacks, but overall I manage fine when the item is something I can go ahead and make. Very occasionally I make an error or ten but it doesn't usually matter because I can always call that a feature because nobody else but me knows how the thing was meant to turn out in the beginning.
May I suggest that you post the resulting files to the board so that anyone who wants these can also access them without any drama. I believe there is a strong need for something like this. Who knows, you may even get a commission out of it. On the other hand, you may have a good reason for not wanting your work in the public domain.

Thanks Noel
Hi Noel
Thanks for doing the drawings, I thought that you may have forgotten me.
The drawings aren't displayed as being on the bulletin board, so I would appreciate it if you could email them to me at this address. (Removed)
I don't think it is a very good idea for you to have your email address on the display on the BB as it will probably attract a lot of spam.
If you want me to, I will try to put the drawings (when you send them to me) up on the net for others to share as well.
I trust that you are feeling better and recovering from whatever it was that struck you down. However, look on the bright side, because I am pleased that you had the time to devote to make these drawings for me.

I never forget promises - ben back in hospital again for a few days, however, coming better now I think.
I have emailed the files direct to your home email as this site does not like some file-endings.
Any problems, let me know.
Cheers

Noel,
Seems like your going through a little rough patch. Hope you don't have to have another trip to the hospital.

Thanks for the thoughts.
yeh - a bit crook at the moment, but never say die.
I try to explain that it's a bit like having a WV with a cracked ring on one piston, and running jet fuel in the tank.
Everything is going super fast.
First have to clear the system of 'jet fuel', then fix the piston.
Just wait till that's all done and I will be back firing on all cylinders.
As they say - NEVER EVER EVER GIVE IN!
Cheers again

I have attached the files that Noel sent to me. Noel sent me two CRV files but the BB willnot allow them to be uploaded as they are too large. (745K each) If you want these files then PM me and I will send them to you. They aren't strictly necessary as all the info reqd is in the txt files
The other files all originally had a .tap extension, but they are still essentially just straight text files. If you want to use Mach to run the code then you could change the extension from .txt to .tap.
The .jpg files are still .jpg and may be viewed.
Thanks for your work and time Noel
Bob
Hmmm, it would appear that txt files don't show up either. They are also a little too large. The same pm will get you a copy of them too. In fact, the whole lot is just under 2.2 megBob Willson
