    Default cedar linings

    HI everyone

im looking at installing timber linings to the ceiling of my front deck. Its protected from the weather and there is about 24 square meters in total.
One side of the deck has a timber privacy screen wall which i was planing to put a hardwood decking on it with 10mm gaps.

My thoughts were to put a cedar ceiling lining but it costs a fortune $13lm 176mm cover v-boards plus not sure if it would look funny having 2 different timbers butting into each other. the front door is maple which i planned to oil so there would be 3 different timbers at the front of house. the house is contemporary rendered with metal roof.

    My questions are -
    1. is there any other timber people use as a ceiling lining apart from pine which i dont like the colour of. is there a hardwood or maple v-board.
    2. does it matter if there are 3 different timbers used in the house at the front should i use the one timber and same finish.
    3. Is there a cheap supplier of cedar in sydney that someone knows of.

    Thanks

For Q2. I think all timber looks good together. Too much of one can be a bit overpowering though. You could always put a little paint between the different species.

    Cheers
