Hand carving- advice please
Since starting carving, which I am enjoying immensely, I have completed four 'in the round' pieces. Hopefully the photo of one has appeared on this thread. My question is can one of you older hands give me advice on the best way to carve hair? I seem to be spending too much time on this part of the carving. I have seen photos of hair looking good by just carving a few grooves to achieve a realistic effect. I think I need a tutorial.
Any constructive advice would be most welcome.
PS the pieces are carved from poplar which were delivered as firewood, they are about 30cm, (like trying to burn a telephone book but great for carving.)
thanks for your help.
