Default Mens Shed Bundoora now open.

From the "Whittlesea Leader" Newspaper - 4 May 2010

Bundoora's old blokes now have a new place to hang out
    and "chew the fat".
The Old Blokes' Shed, based at Bundoora Extended Care
Centre, was opened last month in honour of the late
    Cliff Rattray-Wood.
His widow Lorraine and family helped Bundoora Rotary members
    officially commemorate the event.
For more than 12 months, Bundoora Rotary Club and the centre
have fundraised to kick start construction of the new shed.
    ....
The first Old Blokes' Shed was opened in Bendigo in 2004.

Cliff and I were neighbours, shared many years in Rotary together
and had many trips to functions in one of his much loved Jags.
It was always fun to travel in his E type but took half an hour to
    get out of it.

The Old Blokes' Shed is only about 3 kms from Northern Woodturners
clubhouse. We wish them well in their endeavours.

    Default It's a MENS SHED.

    Hi Allan,
There not "Old Blokes Sheds " .Ours is a Community Shed, & all ages can join, Ladies are welcome as well.
Well worth a look at the Bendigo Shed, "Awesome ".
So where is the Northern Clubhouse, Oh I see, it's 3 Ks from the Shed.
How about a Melways reference for both, Please. A Name would be good as well..
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Hi Lewis,

The newspaper item called it "The Old Blokes Shed" and
I accept that it should be known as such. I am not advocating
that it is part of the "Men in Sheds" organisations merely
repeating what the newspaper item is showing.
The Bundoora Extended Care Centre is in Plenty Rd Bundoora
near the intersection of Grimshaw St.

Our club, Northern Woodturners Club, is about 3 kms West of
them. We occupy the Kingsbury Scout Hall in Browning St
Kingsbury, about 70 metres from the intersection of Plenty Rd
    and Browning St.

    Hope this helps.

Allan, I also saw the article in the local paper about the Bundoora Extended Care (BEC), mens shed but I am fairly certain that it is not open to the general public.
I think it is only to be used by the residents of the BEC.
In fact I saw a letter from Probus the other day asking for volunteers to assist in helping in the running of the shed i.e. supervising activities etc. I don't think the members of the shed will be running it in the same way other mens sheds are run.

Just thought I would put my two bobs worth in, so the BEC are not inundated with people wanting to join up.

    Hi Paul,
Just to correct the situation. Northern Woodturners Club are not in any
way connected to the Mens' Shed organizations. We are an affiliated
    woodturning club.
My original post was only highlighting the newspaper item re the
"Old Blokes Shed" in nearby Bundoora and was wishing them well.

    Cheers,

    Allan
