Default A couple of new sticks

A while back I had a commission to do a mallard drake head as a cap piece for a jarrah walking staff.

I didn't much like it as I'm not much of a painter but I did keep the pattern and recently decided to have another go as a handle for a cane. This time I decided to make a hen and use a wood burner to highlight the duck head. I like it better. Hope you enjoy.

Done well Whittling, if it wasn't on a stick, one might shoot at it!

Nice job, particularly like to see people using some alternative techniques on their work

Thanks guys. Still learning about wood burning. Not the sort of thing you can 'erase' and start over if you muck it up! Then again, you can't put back wood you've carved away either so I guess I should be getting used to it.

Its a new design for me and this is the first time I've tried it as a cane handle. I trialed it around town this arvo and it really feels good in the hand. What's more, the patina that builds on this sort of finish makes this particular project just look better and better. I can't claim any credit for it but I'm kinda excited about it. Think I'll try a couple more. I have a feeling this one won't take long to sell.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
