I was a bit nervous about going too deep and leaving gouge marks so I figured slow and steady was the go.

Thanks for the additional photos Iggy The sharp ridge in the jarrah is very impressive!! especially knowing that you did it by hand. I love the handle detail, did you rout the twist or make that by hand too?

    cheers

Have you experienced blood on the sandpaper lukewarm cuppas are scolding hot and when your fingertips heel they have no feeling try picking up a needle Frowned on by purists, but today's sand paper sure is a great tool for shaping but I reckon there's a trap in relying on it without skilling up with a blade tool or two of some sort

Agreed, I use whatever tool seems appropriate but do try and make sure I have some capability in as many tool types as possible. Different tools do different things better.
Hmmm I didn't have fingerprints for about a month.

"Stress blasted" not laughing at you just the saying, never heard it before. Mate at work who lives around your way reckons there was frost over the ground this morning, must have looked a beauty. Walking is one thing that takes stress away for me, how about rugging up and walking a country lane
