    Default Hilti T17 repair

    Hi Gerhard,
thanks very much for the link. The explanations and pictures are great. However I am afraid this may be a real challange for me. Actually I thought I could easily replace the old drill chuck with the new one. Well, will see.

    best regards
    Siggi

    Question te17

I just got a te17 and the bits seem to be locked in until I start drilling.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks Rich

Have you turned the front of the chuck to lock them in. About a 1/4 of a turn.

    Default Thanks for information

I have both the TE-17, which by the way, I have been using on a weekly basis. I have learned so much from this site. I also see that I have one of the earlier models that is all metal chuck. I am now in the process of cleaning it and installing new brushes. (If the brushes ever arrive. If not, I'll have some special ordered.) I have heard AW46 hydraulic will work just fine in the 17. This 17 is in great shape for the use it has had over the past what 40 years. I also have the next model after the 17. How am I always winding up with old used equipment? There was an old AC man going out of business and he sold me a truck with a bunch of tools, many dating back to the 60's. I am having quite a ball. Again, thanks for the info. I'll try to post some pictures of the old 17.

Default Hilit sent me the parts breakdown for a TE-17 if anyone needs it.

Can't find anything on the web other than this was one of their earliest models. Have emailed Hilti Australia too, but had no response after a week. Wondering if anyone has a handbook for one of these that I can copy, or knows where to get one?
    Cheers,

Hilti just recently sent me a parts breakdown and diagrams of the TE-17 if anyone would like a copy. I am new here so maybe it is already posted. But for you experienced users I guess you know how to contact me. Just let me know. Thanks. I also found a good place to get replacement brushes. Tony
