    Default Kitchenware

Decided to make something useful for a change
A small (3" dia) mortar and pestle for the kitchen.

The mortar is Rowan with a Boxwood pestle. Finished with sanding sealer & burnished with turnings.
Did think it might do for SWMBO's birthday present but probably.......

Rowan is also called mountain ash and has very nice red berries in autum.
Planted near houses in Scotland since pre christian times as it was supposed to keep ghosts and evil spirits away. Dont know if it worked but it is a very nice tree to have around. I have seen the odd one in the cooler parts of Oz.
    Nice work there Mark.
    Regards
    John

Or even get your wife some while you're at the shop.

Yup - Made one of them, asked HID if she would like it for Christmas but for some unfathomable reason she declined the offer.
Never mind, I did pick up a decent garden fork for her at the last car boot sale, just have to keep it hidden for a few months. Boy will she be surprised.
