    Default mitre joint splines

Just reading aother post in this forum got me wondering just how I would cut the housing for a spline 90deg to the mitre joint without a tilting arbor table saw? Its academic now since I've already glued my little built-in cupboards together. If only my Elu SCMS had a depth stop so it could be used for housing as well as cut-off You could do one vertical cut with the table saw and one horizontal cut with the router to end up with a spline parallel to an edge but I don't know if that would look very good...

    Michael,

The easiest way to reinforce such mitre joints would be to use a good quality biscuit joiner, such as the Porter-Cable, whose fence can be tilted to 135 degrees, so that you can cut biscuit slots perpendicular to the mitre face.

Alternatively, you could use a biscuited butt joint instead of a mitre joint.

Certainly a cheaper alternative than the special nozzle on the bottle that Norm & David Marks use.
