Default Starting to carve and a yet to be built box

Hi all. Although not new to the woodworking game (art) I have yet to build a jewellery box that looks a million dollers but cost $10 as I found some offcuts. All it now needs is heaps of advice and hours of dedicated attention to detail. I wish to have this box finished for my wife's birthday which is the 1st December. Yip, this year.

I have been looking at key joints but don't even know where to start on those. I don't have a dovetail jig although dearly would like to have one oneday. Wife would like drawers as she would like to lay her necklaces out. She would like to have 3 drawers. Now I heard thats the hardest part. I have a Makita table saw, a thicknesser and planer, a router without table 1/4' and 1/2' and verious bits in a set. I have a biscuit jointer, I have glue and heaps of willing to learn ability. One ingreadiant missing up to now to build this masterpiece are all my friends advice on this forum. I like the look of key joints as one can make them with lighter coloured timber. I am using kwila from dekking planks offcuts. So it's a nice dark red.

So guys, lets see if we can get this done before 1 December 2010.

Thank you all and I do appreciate it.
With kind regards and may the wood chips fly
