    Hi MIK,

    With that stuff the fibres appeared to me to be completely encapsulated within the base material, so I don't think there would be any problems with sticking to double sided tape, whichever side it's stuck to. I imagine that the good sailmakers tape will be expensive, but if it is a permanent solution and withstands our heat then it will be much easier to make a sail as sewing that stuff down the middle would not be much fun as it's quite stiff. Much easier to sew the edges!

    Because it looks like kevlar it does look quite cool and would give a somewhat modern look to a lug rig. As you say, it would take some getting used to if people are used to a sail that makes a bubble when it backs. But tell-tales are easy to get used to as well so it should not be too much of a problem.

    I think I'm going to have to buy a sewing machine and have a go at this sail making caper!

    To use the tape just by itself means you have to have a perfectly flat surface. Then the panels of the sail are alternated so that the flat sides of each panel are in contact so the double sided tape works.
