Cabra Loca - Construcción de un velero GIS - Daniel in Uruguay
Just got an email from Daniel in Uruguay ...
Hi Michael,
I write you from Montevideo, Uruguay, to send you the address of a blog, in Spanish, about my adventure of building a GIS.
Cabra Loca - Construcción de un velero GIS
I've been almost a year building the GIS in my garage.
I am photographer editor for the Agence France-Presse in Latin America, and I have only some weekends to work on the boat. Sometimes I have to travel in the region. Also my 16 year-old sun is "surf-adict", and I enjoy to go with him to find waves in the Uruguay's coast.
I took the majority of the pix in the Blog with an iPhone... bad example from a professional photographer... but easy.
The big problem here in Uruguay, in addition to getting good 6 mm ply, is to find someone who manufactures the sail.
The only option is North Sails in Buenos Aires, who ask me U 600.--
I work hard to find another manufacturer.
But Michael, I am very happy with the experience. I never worked as a carpenter, or with epoxy and fiberglass, and I hope to finish in February.
At the end, I'll send you some videos and photos of the GIS sailing this south Atlantic beaches.
Thanks a lot in sharing your experience and knowledge.
Cheers,
