Where can I get some of those sky hooks to hang rope off? Sure could use a few of those at the moment.
Looking great, mortise chopping should be fun

Thank you for the prompt reply.
I'd best do the right thing;
take the photos and ask the question on a new thread as my QR vice issue has nothing to do with your great bench.
Again thank you.
Cheers, Crowie

Claw if you can lift it over your head with one hand while playing the cello with the other hand you can take it
Groggy i can send you a few skyhooks in the post if you want. Oh...wait a minute, your top is over 200kg. Too heavy for the ones I've got
I no longer fear the big mortise chop session. Can chop them out pretty quick now. Especially with the mortise chisels. Well worth the money spent. Those were the droids I was looking for.

Trouble with these benches is, they're not exactly portable. But if you are ever up this way you are welcome to come and have a play. I must say it would have been nice to see a few benches in the flesh to weigh a few ideas and options.

Hi Nick,
If you would like, you are welcome to drop by and check my effort, (chronicled here in 2008). Been in use for a couple of years now, so includes a "road report" PM me if interested.
Scott (Wongo) is also in the area, and built his a couple of years ago.
regards
Alastair

Alastair
I'll take you up on that offer, thanks. I've also read your thread (and will have another look),
'have seen Wongo's, covered in a cowskin and cr**(stuff). Ok may have been a tabletop or something . I'm not sure he's happy with the solid top, but you'd have to ask him.
The Laird
I might also just have to take a drive up to the Hunter vineyards with a littleish side tripregards

What I have been meaning to do, for a while, given the number of WB's which happen, is to do a "used bench review"
I know Scott did one some time after his build, and it was useful to me.
All the "whats"
What worked well
What didn't
What I'd change
etc
I'll ressurect the old thread.
