Workbench - Old-style
This bench is from a mechanics shop. Old-style mechanics shop. It had a hydraulic column lift.
The guy lives on one side of the road and the workshop is/was on the corner opposite.
He took over there (in Kelmscott) in 1966 and says he can remember there being four or five sawmills in the 'suburb'.
In any case, the workshop hasn't run for some time and the council has been on to him to develop the land ... an 'eyesore' I guess is their attitude.
I saw him taking a workbench from the shop off to a farm property.
The top was made of two planks. I think I stepped it off at 7 or 8 metres.
Oh yeah, baby!
Cheers,
Paul
