hercus craftsman?
I have seen a 'hercus craftsman steel lathe' advertised locally and was wondering what this might look like so I can decide if I want to go and have a look... Can anyone help?

I Googled the "hercus craftsman steel lathe" you wrote and found a free pdf manual for it at the top of the page.

My Favourite Hercus
Gallegos,
Theses lathes are a thing of beauty but if you do go and look at it pay close attention to all the gears in the headstock. My brother in law purchased one. It had a total of 12 teeth missing from the cone and backgear assembly. Someone had tried to engage the back gear while it was running. Maybe the destruction was the result of a number of tries during that poor lathes life.
Bob.

Thanks Bob... point taken. I know these lathes are generally all from schools so I'll pay close attention.
