    Default Price inconsistencies

Yes, I've emailed Juergen about that, and half a dozen other inconsistencies that I've spotted in his 2011 cattledog. It doesn't make any sense at all. It's obviously quite a job for him at the moment - organising the new cattledog, updating the website, a SHIGHTLOAD of new products (more info in a few hours), a shightload of orders to fill, weeks away on business trips, and on top of that - a new son.

    Regards, FF

Exclamation ooooOOOOoooo these look a bit saucy: NEW PRODUCTS Speks, Pics & Diagrams

    Hello all,

There are two new ranges of Forstner bits: EcoCut & BasicCut, as well as a significantly increased range of MaxiCut forstners from 60mm to a massive 100mm, and the imperial equivalents.

There is a new range of "MaxiCut plus" Forstners. These are for drilling holes on an angle or an edge, and have what looks to be a brad point drill as the pilot, rather than a stubby point. They are made from HSS.

There is also a countersink bit for Auger Bits (it sinks a flat hole like a Forstner would) and can be attached to various Augers (see speks).

There is still the outstanding issue of the big price jump over 50mm forstners, and that applies to one of the new ranges as well. Hope to get that resolved in the next couple of days.

In the mean time I'll post the prices for these new products a little later on the understanding that a couple of the prices may change (hopefully in our favour)

    Regards, Brett

Exclamation Please vote in the poll

To all the people who have placed, or intend to place an order for the Colt Drill Group Buy:

Would you kindly submit your vote on how we should divvy up the freight cost.

PLEASE NOTE: your domestic postage will be on top of this of course and I will address that later.

Let me point you in the right direction: I have no idea what the weights of each component are. If I had an excel sheet from Juergen with them all on it, then it would be easy to divvy up by weight. However, I think it highly unlikely that he has one (but my ask when I call him later).

I think a divvy up by price is pretty fair, as the bigger the drill the heavier it is and the higher the price. Yes, yes, I know that doesn't account for the cost differences in the various steels, but if you think I'm going to go into that sort of detail..........

Please do not vote in this poll if you are not placing an order

    Regards, FenceFurniture

I am happy with dividing it up by price - I think your logic there is quite sound!

Weelll, actually, seeings how Lindlar is only a few hours from Tirol in Hall (Austria), I was thinking of getting Juergen to pick up a Hammer A3 31 for me.

By price sounds fair and I'm for anything that makes things easier for you.

I am happy with freight based on price.

I was looking at a US site, completely different product, but they listed their scale of charges according to price as follows

    $0 - $25 = $19.95 Flat
    $25.01 - $50 = 60% of subtotal
    $50.01 - $100 = 50% of subtotal
    $100.01 - $200 = 40% of subtotal
    $200.01 - $1000 = 30% of subtotal
    $1000+ = 25% of subtotal

Probably a bit on the steep side, but the principle is there. Hopefully we would achieve a preferential rate through the German manufacturer for what looks like being a significant order.

Once we PM an order, are we waiting for you to send out details once everything is in, or piecemeal - I'm not nagging, just sent an order on weekend and haven't heard anything... would hate to miss out on an oversight!
    cheers

Sorry Lee, been flat out fixing a number of cockups with it. We now have several duplicate part numbers with the new products, some inconsistent pricing etc and it's created a bit of chaos for me.

I'm expecting the prices for the new parts tonight. I suspect Juergen tried to send them to me on Friday but because it's a 22mb file the server timed out and he hasn't been in the office since.

When that's finalised I will be sending everyone a PDF to check, then we can address the freight issue.

    Regards, Brett

Okay, I've just spoken to Juergen and he is doing a final check on the PDF tomorrow, so he should be able to send it to me on Thursday, with a bit of luck. He is being ultra careful because of the inconsistencies in pricing and part number duplications etc.

In the light of this delay the close out of the Group Buy will be delayed until about the end of the first week in May, especially given that I won't be able to publish prices until the start of Easter, and therefore many members will not be able to see them until Wednesday 27th April.

Juergen will be dropping the BasicCut series of forstners (which sat in between EcoCut and MaxiCut). It didn't make sense to have three series. I asked him if he had any stock to get rid of, but he doesn't.

    Regards, Brett

Well.....you wouldn't believe it. It seems Thursday may have also been a public holiday in Germany (Maundy Thursday), and if so I guess Juergen forgot about that when he said the PDF would come on Thursday.

Anyway for whatever reason there was no one there on Thursday, so I really do hope to get something tonight.

    Regards, Brett
