Decking Timber?

Hi

I'm after some decking Teak, Iroko/Odum, White Beech and Celery Top Pine
have been suggested any thoughts?
Teak I guess would be the best but could be expensive?
Iroko looks similar to teak in colour.
White beech looks good with black caulking and the right colour hull.
Celery top pine?
Might need about 2.5 sq mt
Any ideas on cost, properties and suitability on any of these timbers.

Hi guys I have been trying to log on here for a while but was having problems my end so I found out
There is another timber very suitable for the decking on a boat.
It is as hard wearing as teak and almost identical to look at. The best part is it's not as oily as th
Eak so would take varnish etc.

It's called Afrormosia it's an African timber and is available in Melbourne in large sizes. The supplier is Australian Furniture Timber in 31 Plummer St, Port Melbourne.
It is gold/brown in colour,43 lbs/ft3, according to their catalogue available in 38,50,75 and 100 mm

A highly suitable substitute for teak in decking is an African timber called "Afrormosia". It is a golden/brown colour and is 43 lb/ft3. It works similar in all aspect to Teak but does not have it's oilyness. So in the long term immersion in water it would not be as good as teak but for decking I believe it would be more than suitable. It is available in 38,50,75 & 100mm thickness.
Available in Melbourne from Australian Furniture Timber, 31Plummer St ,Port Melbourne.

Sorry about the double post about the deck timber.

I was unsure if my first post was submitted correctly so did another post. Hopefully it won't happen again.

My understanding of boat timbers comes from being a shipwright by trade and lots of reading.
My current project is the restorTion of an mid 1960's clinker speed boat. There is lots of work still to be done although it seems like I have rebuilt over half the boat already.
Hopefully it will look nice when finished. The hull is plywood and the deck will also be 6mm plywood overlaid with contrasting Amoora and Huon Pine. The foaming will be Silver Ash if I can find some here in Melbourne. So far I have tried just about everyone

G'day Peter, tell me what does Amoora look like? Silver ash, hmm, could try Lazarides timber(Gareth is the man's name I think)Qld or Nth NSW. Or you could ask Trend timbers, NSW. Best of luck.

Amoora is dark red timber. It is not as dense as Red Gum but is similar in colour and easier to work.
It is a good replacement for Queensland Maple. General straight grained and a very strong timber. It is a rainforest timber from Malaysia I think but there seems to be plenty around.
Mathews timber have it as does Aust Furniture Timber. Depending on the size that you are after one place is cheaper than the other
