    Default old hand saws

i have 6 or so of my dads old hand saws, they have surface rust on them.
i was thinkinking of rubbing them back, degreasing them and blueing them with gun blue .
have you gentlemen of wood etiquette heard of this before or have other ideas to clean them up?

I found in the past using the saw cleans them up 6x4" gets the whole blade clean.

    Default Old hand saws

Take the handles off, and rub the blades back with fine abrasive paper (about #180) to remove the rust. No point in blueing the blades, it will only wear off with use. Wipe the surface down with a mixture of 50% light oil and 50% kero or turps. Wipe the oil off before use.
