    Question Most popular pen kits?

    Hi there,
I am perhaps thinking about geting a group bulk buy of pen kits and blanks and velvet cases. Wondering what the most popular pen kits would be?
    Regards Ben

Note: All that I am wanting out of this thread is to find out what the most popular style of pen kits are.
    Regards Ben

Ben ! If I knew the answer to that one I would be set lol, but 2 pens stick out the sierra style and the cigar, I think the cigar is a classier pen and a bit more traditional with many possible variations ,the sierra is easy to make and you can churn out 2 at a time no problem , I do markets regularly and no one style seems more popular than any other in practice ,every individual has there own preferences ,so I give a wide and varied choice ,something for everyone lol. Seems price is the main concern of most people ,although I find my cheaper pens sit around for a while ,as for a few more dollars they can get something a bit better in the range ( I display about 100 pens on my stand ) every one will have a different view on this subject according to their experience Cheers ~ John

I find that the best sellers are Gold Daycom Streamline most done with great figured timber like Colobolo, BOW and burls bought by both men and women, followed by EB done with burls bought by the ladies and then Cigars done in plain timbers like Red Gum,Victorian Ash,Rosewood, jarrah by the men, mainly office workers.
Please note the I do 98 percent of my pens in wood and do not even do bother with plastics. At one of the markets I sell 1 to 2 bullet pens and the other I sell none of them.
Each market I attend the buyers like diffent types and I carry 11 diffent types of pens.
Most buyers have diffent tastes but if I could pick what I could sell before getting there on the day I think life could became boring. Fountain pen sales are picking up due to the fact I carry 6 diffent colouring and styles . People will buy what they like and nothing else, so its important not to have all the same styles and plating

All pen kits are good to me! I havent done many but do like Sierras though most friends love the Cigars too. I'm always happy to try any kit that I can get my hands on and plan to spread my wings a bit more once I have gone through some of my current stash.

    Hey Ben,

There is another thread going about importing pen Kits, there are enough suppliers here in Australia that you don't need to group buy, by the time you get a heap ordered and then re pack and send out everywhere, your savings (If any) are eaten up.
Timberbits, Addictive, GPW and Carrolls (Sorry If I missed any) all have virtually Over nite delivery so why waste your time organising a Group Buy.

    Thanks for the point.
I have had numbers that have been sent from suppliers overseas.
From the cheapest price I can find in Australia you save..
    Slimline - 10c
    Cigar Pen - $1.60
    European Pen - 40c
Velvet case with draw string - 50c

These savings are including postage from over seas.
And I am still waiting for prices on sierra, polaris and key ring pen kits.
    Regards Ben

I could be interested but agree that having to pay postage from supplier to you and then on will probably destroy any savings unless the order is very large and postage cost from supplier is reasonable. However if you can find a good deal let me know.
