Yep great job, I liked it when it was plain but thats just my taste, I'm not taking anything away from your beautiful work. Love the dragon fly too.

Smooth. Clean. That is an inspired match-up of animals with shoreline habitat. My bear & moose-addled Canadian brain needed that. Thanks for the generous illustration.

Yeah Claw, I tend towards unpainted too but with this piece surrounding colors, sun exposure during the day and a light toned wood called for something more to bring the features into relief. Scorching was an option but there wouldn't've been enough contrast again. The greys and grey-blues are trueish to nature and in keeping with the overall yard feel. I even sanded back the birds with steelwool to let grain come tru. looking forward to it fading a bit tho. Clients love it but...!
